We believe in free speech. We believe in protecting the right to speak and write; we believe in protecting the right to listen and read. We believe in universal access to tools that help people communicate.
We want to let everyone speak and write, when they want to speak and write. We want to let everyone hear what other people say, and read what other people write.
Thanks to new tools, speech is not always controlled by people who own publishing houses. Speech is not always controlled by governments. Now, everyone has the power to publish their thoughts. Everyone can tell their stories to the world.
We want to connect people who are separated by different languages and different cultures. We want to understand each other better. We want to work together better. We want to act more powerfully, together, than we act on our own.
We believe in the power of connecting directly with other people. The bond between people from different cultures is personal. This bond is powerful. Conversations between people from different cultures are important. These conversations are necessary for a free and fair society. They are necessary for a prosperous and sustainable world community. They are necessary for all citizens of this planet.
We all work and speak as individuals. However, we also want to find our shared goals. We want to work together to realize these goals. We pledge to respect and assist eachother. We pledge to teach eachother, to learn from eachother, to listen to eachother.
We are Global Voices.
